South Stems is a floral design studio in Audubon, New Jersey. This page explains what information our website, southstemsflowers.com, collects, why, who else sees it, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to write it the way we’d explain it to you in person.

What you tell us

When you send an inquiry through our contact form, we receive what you enter: your name, email address, phone number if you give it, and details about your event, such as the date, venue, guest count, budget, how you found us, and your message. If you email or call us directly, we receive whatever you choose to share that way.

We use this to reply to you, plan and design your event, and keep records of the work we do. We send you a short confirmation email when your inquiry arrives. We don’t add you to a mailing list.

What the website records on its own

How you found us

Our site keeps a small note in your browser of how you first arrived and how you most recently arrived: for example, from a Google search, an Instagram link, or one of our ads, and which page you landed on. It stays on your device and is only sent to us if you submit the inquiry form, so we can see which of our marketing actually reaches people. Your browser forgets it after a year, or sooner if you clear your browsing data.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site: which pages are viewed, how visitors arrived, what kind of device they used, and their approximate location (city level, not your street address). Google Analytics uses cookies to do this. It also tells us when someone sends an inquiry or taps our email address or phone number, though not what they wrote.

Advertising tags from Google and Meta

We advertise on Google, Instagram and Facebook. To see whether those ads work, and to show our ads to people who have visited our site before, our pages include tags from Google (Google Ads, through the same Google tag as Analytics) and Meta (the Meta Pixel, for Instagram and Facebook). These tags use cookies and similar technology to record your visit, which Google and Meta can connect to other activity on their platforms under their own privacy policies.

When you send an inquiry, these tags record that an inquiry happened and the type of event it was for (for example, “Wedding” or “Corporate event”), but not your message or other details. We also send Google and Meta a scrambled (hashed) version of contact details you enter in the form, such as your email address, phone number and name, which they use to match your inquiry to an ad you may have seen or clicked. The scrambling happens in your browser, so they receive the scrambled version, not the details themselves.

The services that run the site

  • Cloudflare hosts the website and stores inquiries. Like any web host, it processes your IP address to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.
  • Google Fonts supplies the site’s typeface, so your browser requests font files from Google.
  • Sanity hosts our photos and serves them to your browser. Photos in the Instagram section of our homepage load from Instagram’s servers, which are run by Meta.
  • The Pinterest “Save” buttons on our photos are plain links. Nothing is sent to Pinterest unless you click one.

Who we share information with

We don’t sell your information to data brokers or anyone else for money. We share it only in these ways:

  • With the companies that help us run the business: Cloudflare (website and inquiry storage), Resend (which delivers the inquiry and confirmation emails), Google (our email inbox, Analytics and Ads), and Meta (Instagram and Facebook ads). They process it for us under their own terms and privacy policies.
  • With others involved in your event, such as your planner, venue or photographer, when coordinating your event calls for it.
  • When the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

Some state privacy laws treat allowing advertising tags like Google’s and Meta’s on a website as “sharing” or a “sale” of information for targeted advertising, even when no money changes hands. If you’d rather not take part, see the choices below.

Your choices

  • Cookies and browsing data: your browser can block or delete cookies and site data. Doing so also clears the note about how you found us.
  • Google Analytics: Google offers a browser add-on that turns it off on every site.
  • Ads from Google: manage or turn off personalized ads in My Ad Center.
  • Ads from Meta: manage ad preferences in your Instagram or Facebook settings, under Accounts Center.
  • Industry opt-outs: the Digital Advertising Alliance and Network Advertising Initiative let you opt out of interest-based ads from participating companies.

Browsers’ “Do Not Track” setting has no agreed standard, so our site doesn’t currently respond to it.

Seeing, correcting or deleting your information

Email us at southstemsflowers@gmail.com to ask what we have about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. We’ll reply within 30 days. We may need to keep some records, such as invoices for events we’ve designed, for as long as tax and accounting rules require.

We keep inquiries for as long as we need them to respond, to plan your event if you book with us, and to keep sensible business records.

Security

We use reputable providers and keep access to inquiries limited to our team. No website or email system is perfectly secure, so please don’t send us anything especially sensitive, like payment card numbers, through the form.

Children

Our site is for people planning weddings and events. It isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

When we change how the site handles information, we’ll update this page and the date at the top.
