Kind Words

Originally, my husband and I wanted to save our money and forgo flowers. However, we decided to reach out to Cara anyway. Boy, are we glad we did. We know nothing about flowers and we also didn't have a color palette for the wedding, which for some vendors may have been a nightmare. We wanted Cara to work her magic and tap into her creativity. Man, did she do that and more! HIRE SOUTH STEMS NOW! Like yesterday. You'll love working with Cara and she'll elevate your event.

Cara and the entire South Stems team were a dream when planning our July 2024 wedding at Osteria. They made the whole day stress-free, accommodated all of our little changes, and the florals were absolutely gorgeous! We highly, highly recommend the South Stems team!

I had nothing but a delightful experience working with South Stems florist for my wedding! Cara is so talented and a true artist. We had a few chats leading up to the wedding to go over what kind color pattern I wanted, types of flowers, vases etc. I knew that I could let her just do her thing and I would love the outcome regardless. Cara was very responsive in emails and texts, we couldn’t have asked for better.

South Stems were great to work with for our wedding! We sent ideas of what we wanted and they curated the perfect florals for our day. They were easy to work with and super communicative!

How we work

Full service means we source it, build it, deliver it, install it and come back for it. Once your date and venue are secured, we start with a brief call, come back with a mood board and a customized proposal, and refine it over a few calls as your palette and guest count settle. On the day we deliver personal flowers to wherever you are getting ready, install on site, move ceremony pieces into the reception where that makes sense, and return to break it all down.

Whenever possible the flowers are grown locally, through the growers of the Philadelphia Floral Guild, farms across New Jersey and Pennsylvania, and our own growing space. That is why the palette follows the season: ranunculus, anemones and poppies in spring, cosmos, zinnias and scabiosa in high summer, and dahlias, marigolds and strawflower into autumn.

We serve Camden, Gloucester, Burlington, Cape May, Atlantic and Ocean counties in New Jersey; Philadelphia, Delaware, Montgomery, Chester and Bucks counties in Pennsylvania; and New Castle County in Delaware. That takes in Audubon, Haddonfield, Collingswood, Philadelphia, New Hope and Wilmington, and runs down the Shore to Cape May.

South Stems is an event and corporate floral studio. We do not offer retail arrangements, same-day gift delivery or walk-in service.

Questions we get asked

What is included in full-service wedding flowers?

Bridal and wedding party bouquets, boutonnieres, a ceremony moment, aisle and entry flowers, sweetheart or head table arrangements, guest table compotes and bud vases, bar and cake flowers, and the vessels, stands, tapers and votives that go with them. We deliver, install on site and return to break the event down.

How far ahead should we book our wedding flowers?

We are currently booking through 2027. Get in touch once your date and your venue are both secured. We are unable to quote a wedding before both of those are settled, so the inquiry is most useful to everyone once you are there.

What areas do you cover?

Camden, Gloucester and Burlington counties in New Jersey, Bucks and Delaware counties in Pennsylvania, and New Castle County in Delaware. That includes Audubon, Collingswood, Haddonfield, Cherry Hill and Philadelphia, and it reaches the Jersey Shore.

How do you put a quote together?

After a brief inquiry call to discuss scope, we put together an initial proposal for your review. That proposal gets refined after feedback over a few calls before anything is booked. We don’t work off packages since everyone’s needs are different, but our couples celebrating 100+ guest count weddings with personals, ceremony, cocktail and reception should anticipate an investment starting at $7K. We line item everything in our proposals so you can see the costs associated with each deliverable. We feel this presentation helps couples better prioritize what feels most important as they review and compile feedback.

Where do your flowers come from?

Local growers, whenever possible. We buy through the growers of the Philadelphia Floral Guild, Jersey Cut Flower Market, and Chester County Flower Collective. It means the palette we propose will follow whatever is actually in season on your date. It also means your investment is supporting small, independent flower farmers right in our community. We are also plugged in and utilizing traditional wholesale markets. We know there are sometimes sentimental or off-season stems you may want to see in your day.
